Welcome to the
Tennessee Chapter, IAAO Candidates Club. The goal of the chapter
is to actively promote the IAAO designation program to benefit the
assessment administration in the state of Tennessee. IAAO has
developed and implemented a program of professional designations
intended to increase the professional competence of assessment
personnel through education. The objectives of IAAO's professional
designation program are to raise the standards of the profession,
to attain recognition of the assessment profession by government
authorities and the public; and to gain for designated member
recognition qualified, objective, unbiased appraiser and
administrators of systems for ad-valorem tax purposes.
The Professional
Designation Program confers five internationally recognized
professional designations:
The benefits of a professional designation are many. I obtained
an RES designation in 1981 and went on to achieve the CAE
designation in 1982. I can say with confidence that attaining
these designations catapulted my career in the assessment field.
It is my goal as chairman of the candidates club to assist as many
of you to achieve a designation from IAAO and ultimately improve
the quality of assessment professionals and assessment
administration in Tennessee.
On
the following pages, please find some helpful direct links to
IAAO’s Professional Designation program pages as well as grants
available from IAAO and the chapter to assist you in gaining this
professional recognition. To assist me in these endeavors, our
president has appointed regional committee members to assist and
encourage all who pursue one of IAAO’s designations.
Yours on behalf of TIAAO,

A. Dean Lewis, CAE
